My motivation to post today is not completely born of goodness. Someone I don't like very much posts pretty regularly to their blog and the affrontery of it goaded me enough to write.
So here's Nate at the end of 2010.
I'm going back to college in a week. It'll be the first time in 3.5 years that I've been a real college student. I'm going to Utah Valley University instead of BYU, due to them having a better film program. BYU's film department actually encouraged me to go to UVU, admitting I'd get more experience there. So, a wolverine I'll been. I'll have to start growing my chops now.
I bought a drumset! Despite not having money for it, I found a ridiculously good priced set and bought it on my poor, worn out credit card. Now I can actually market myself as a drummer. I'm still playing in Image Down, but I want to start another band too and play my style of music.
Work: I'm still writing for BlueGlass Interactive, in addition to Ascendgence, LLC. I teach acting for teenagers at a theatre in Utah Valley, and I really like that job. I'm starting a 4th job soon at the Provo Beach Resort. I didn't think Provo had a beach nor a resort, but it's a pretty rad place. Think of the Nickelcade on steriods.
I saw myself on the big screen for the first time. I acted in the indie film Demon Chicken http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWq-H2X9HOg and got to play several roles. Fun fun fun fun fun. Even better, I've finally found a new group of people who love to make movies like I do. While my films were apostolic (made without purse or script, ha ha) they actuall do it legit-style. Fingers crossed for future collaborations.
When I get back to teaching this semester, I'm unveiling to my students the play we're doing this semester: I Hate Shakespeare! Looking forward to it. I'm excited to see all the potential in my class come out on stage.
Well, Happy New Year's everyone. 2009 sucked, but 2010 was a lot better. It had some heartache, a bajillion learning experiences and even more answered prayers. For New Year's, (except for this year. The family's not doing the normal traditions. I'm sad :( we make funny hats and go around the house making a racket to drive the evil spirits out (Taiwanese tradition) Anyway, for 2010 I made a hat with a little house with balloons on top, and put a man, a boy, a dog, and a giraffe in it to symbolize the characters from UP! with a sign on it that said "Moving up in 2010!" It really came true. Here's hoping 2011 will see me reaching full Nate-capacity. Loves and hugs.
